Lynn Westfall

Lynn D. Westfall is the Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of External Affairs of Tesoro Corporation. With over 30 years of experience in refining, marketing and the transportation, Westfall has a commitment to the industry. Westfall's career began as the Process Engineer of Amoco Chemicals Corporation and then joined Ultramar Diamond Shamrock as the Vice President of Strategy and Strategic Issues.
John Melo

John Melo has more than 20 years of combined experience as a business leader and expert in the global fuels industry.  As CEO, Mr. Melo has been instrumental in transforming Amyris to become the leader in the race to find solutions to the world’s growing demand for low carbon, cleaner burning transportation fuels and specialty chemicals. Applying Amyris’ breakthrough technology platform, creating truly “no-compromise” fuels, Mr. Melo is building a supply chain-focused business model that includes manufacturing and distribution, allowing Amyris to bring to market next generation renewable fuels using existing infrastructure. He is also leading Amyris to execute on a pathway to commercialize the first of these fuels – a sustainably produced diesel – as early as 2010.

Before joining Amyris, he was president of U.S. fuels operations for British Petroleum, where he led successful programs to increase marketing volumes, reduce costs, and significantly improve financial returns. During his nine years with BP, Mr. Melo also served as CIO of the refining and marketing segment; senior advisor for e-business strategy to Lord Browne, BP group chief executive; and director of global brand development. Before joining BP, he worked with Ernst & Young and served on the management teams for several startup companies, including Computer Aided Services and Alldata Corporation.

Lawrence O'Donnell

O’Donnell is an Emmy-Winning Executive Producer, a Senior Political Analyst on MSNBC, and a panelist on the Mclaughlin Group. As Executive Producer of NBC’s The West Wing, he won numerous awards, including the 2000 Humanitas Prize for writing that “communicates those values which most enrich the human person” for an episode he co-wrote with Aaron Sorkin on the death penalty. O’Donnell speaks about politics on television, the effects of rhetoric on a world audience, and the differences between campaigning and governing.

Vinod Khosla

Vinod Khosla was a co-founder of Daisy Systems and founding Chief Executive Officer of Sun Microsystems where he pioneered open systems and commercial RISC processors.

Sun was funded by Kleiner Perkins and in 1986 Vinod switched sides and joined Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB). In 2004, driven by the need for flexibility and a desire to be more experimental, to fund sometimes imprudent "science experiments", and to take on both "for profit" and for "social impact" ventures, he formed Khosla Ventures. Khosla Ventures focuses on both traditional venture capital technology investments and clean technology ventures. Social ventures include affordable housing, microfinance among others.

Vinod holds a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi, a Master's in Biomedical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
